This pattern is designed for the beginner stitcher with some experience who is ready to explore thread painting. It includes fives different types of embroidery stitches including long and short stitch for thread painting the fox fur. This pattern is significantly longer than my other patterns as it includes full step by step instructions for thread painting the fox.
The design itself features a fun woodland scene dominated by little fox, front and center. She is surrounded by a grassy field filled with little flowers, ferns, a mushroom and Queen Anne's lace. She even has a few butterfly friends.
Note that the original patterns calls for using scraps of green floss for the grass to get a fun variety. I did not believe that people would appreciate paying for my floss scraps so full skeins of multiple greens are included in the kit for you to play with.
The embroidery kit includes:
19 skeins of DMC cotton embroidery floss
A piece of whitefabric, pre-printed with the design in color (see photo)
one 5 inch natural wooden embroidery hoop for framing
two embroidery needles
The embroidery pattern includes: - Stitch and direction key - Suggested DMC embroidery floss colors - Full color close up photo of the stitched pattern, showing before and after blending - PDF design sized for a 5 inch hoop ready to print (shrink or enlarge for future projects)
The beginner guide includes: - A supplies list with suggested products based off of my experience - Helpful tips and tricks - Diagrams of stitches
You may want to invest in a high quality embroidery hoop if you have trouble maintaining tension with the included hoop. I bind my hoops with fabric or fabric tape to help, but you may find plastic, metal or high quality wood hoops easier to use. You can then use the wooden hoop included in the kit for framing your finished work.
