My new thread painting kit is here and it features an adorable red panda holding a purple anemone flower. I fell in love with these playful mammals while visiting the San Diego zoo. They are native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China and are classified as endangered. Red pandas are distantly related to raccoons but are actually their own unique family. They are not closely related to giant pandas.
The red panda embroidery kit includes:
14 skeins of DMC cotton embroidery floss
A piece of off-whitefabric, pre-printed with the design
one 6 inch natural wooden embroidery hoop for framing
two size 9 embroidery needles
The embroidery pattern includes: - Suggested DMC embroidery floss colors - Stitch, color and direction keys - Written directions for stitch order and blending patterns - Full color close up photo of the stitched pattern - PDF design sized for a 5 inch hoop ready to print (shrink or enlarge for future projects)
The beginner guide includes: - A supplies list with suggested products based off of my experience - Helpful tips and tricks - Diagrams of stitches
There is not a video tutorial for this pattern. If you are new to thread painting you may find it helpful to watch the video tutorial for the hedgehog embroidery pattern. That pattern is also available as a PDF and kit.
You may want to invest in a high quality embroidery hoop if you have trouble maintaining tension with the included hoop. I bind my hoops with fabric or fabric tape to help, but you may find plastic, metal or high quality wood hoops easier to use. You can then use the wooden hoop included in the kit for framing your finished work.
